I was just walking about my house today and my kittens wouldn’t leave me alone! I swear they were being so pushy and in my face today! Then I started thinking people could learn from this. I mean after I tried pushing them away and it didn’t work I gave in! Now they were nice about it and didn’t scratch me but they definitely told me something since they can’t talk.
Is your business like a kitten? Do you just come out when you feel like it and demand respect, admiration and petting? Well if you know anything about being social you know THAT doesn’t work in the beginning because you come off way too strong and people push you away. At that point no one wants to establish a relationship with you.
Well one thing about my kittens is that they are persistence and want to be all up in my stuff all the time. Your business has to be involved like that! You have to be curious as to what people are doing at all times and how you can relate to them. Some of them will push you away and then others will finally welcome you in and give you that attention that you need.
Just like kittens, they aren’t always up in your face they need time to rest and time to play. They like to have fun and they are very social creatures at least mine are! So sometimes when they aren’t needing my attention, I need theres! I go seek them out when I’m ready. Just as customers will seek you out when they need you the most.
This concept applies to all aspects of life, be persistent but don’t be annoying…..at least not all the time!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blurb about social media and feel free to leave a comment or your own advice when it comes to establishing relationships via facebook, twitter and blogging!
Peace out!

Very nice blog, about something that businesses (and people) tend to forget when participate in social media marketing.
In fact, I fully believe that social media marketing is a VERY misleading term. When you’re looking at it like a marketing campaign, its easy to lose sight on the importance of using these websites to establish a growing relationship with your customer base.
Thank you! Your right it’s not about a campaign it’s about being able to interact with the customer on their level and their terms. Thanks for your comment. =)
I love this post Brandy. I love kittens/cats and this is such a good analogy to being a persistent salesperson. If someone is constantly warming up to you, after a while it becomes impossible not to give in to them, if for no other reason than to just get rid of them! I got your Twitter connect, look for my friend requests on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! Thanks for connecting on twitter and facebook as well! Have a happy New year!
Hey Brandy,
Enjoyed your post.
You are right on target about our business activities need not be “in your face”.
Many home based business entrepreneurs, particularly network marketers, start out firehosing everyone in sight.
It builds much better relationships when we share some of what we have to offer and let our customers get to know us better.

Hey Karen! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to post a comment. There has to be some sort of interaction and trust established before you start throwing out what your selling in everyone’s face. I know some network marketers don’t understand that. But the ones that do are very successful in their business.
